Militarily, a strong leader with lesser forces faced down and thumbed his nose at a weak leader mismanaging superior forces.
First in Crimea, eastern Ukraine, now to save his long time dictator ally in Syria from being deposed.
Russia just moved into a power vacuum as the opening move to become the dominant outside power in the Mideast.
Yes, he is a threat, how much and how soon remains to be known.

Of course, Putin would have them bomb troops fighting Assad. That's who they want to stay in power. Unfortunately, we have an absolute amateur in the office of President (generally referred to as "Resident" Obama) that has no idea of how to put the genie back in the bottle. He's created the Middle East mess and is simply still trying to lie his way out of his own creation. Anyone that can say that Obama isn't the countries' worst president is doing the same thing as Obama....Lying.
