The idea is:

A Remington 7615, converted to .338 Spectre. Reliability of a pump (extremely important relative to a semi-auto, for a suppressed & oddball round like the spectre subsonic loads), yet extreme speed and ability to stay on target, like a semi-auto. SBR'ed (at about 11-12") & Suppressed -- of course.

I *AM* building a suppressed SBR'ed & SBR'ed .338 spectre. I WAS previously 100% set on a turnbolt, based probably on a Savage 10. But now I'm 95% set on a turnbolt, and 5% just messin with this crazy 7615 idea. Big problem is gonna be finding someone to make a barrel that fits this rifle in this caliber (or maybe not).

Oh, I do like the pumps....Thoughts?

Hey, while we're brainstorming, even crazier idea - what about a Browning BLR lightweight (box mag gun), in .338 Spectre, SBR'ed & Suppressed? Or for that matter, a Savage 99?

I was also looking at a turn bolt or break open single shot in either 300 whisper or 338 spectre. I'm not an AR guy so didn't really like that option.
What are you going to use as the base caliber for bolt and action on the savage?
What are your thoughts on subsonic 308 with a fast twist barrel? I've been considering this as another option.
