God bless the USMC. While every single jarhead out there is as goofy as a peach orchard boar, I truly admire and respect each and every one of them. Just yesterday, I was in Sam's in nw okc. I have this thing that I've done for several, several yesrs now. If I see a young man in uniform or an old man in a ball cap with his branch on it, I'll stop and offer him/her a handshake and a quick kind word along the lines of thanking them for their service and fighting for my family's freedom. I especially do this with the Vietnam vets. They were treated so awful and terrible by my parent's generation, that it just tugs at my heart. Anyways, back to Sam's yesterday...I'll bet I visited with 5 old vets, 2 army, 1 navy and 2 leathernecks. The army and navy vets simply smiled, shook my hand and said "thank you" while the two devil dogs both immediately asked me if I was a marine as well and said goodbye with either a "Semper Fi" or a quick "hoorah!" Kevin Bacon made a movie about 10 years ago called Taking Chance. Awesome film. It's about a USMC Lt. Colonel who escorts the remains of a fellow marine back to his hometown. It's not a shot-em-up movie, just an incredible look at how much honor and respect the corps gives to their own. Yup...God bless the marine corps. :soldiers:
