What Scope for New Rifle?

You won't notice a difference between a 40mm and a 50mm unless you are hunting or shooting in very low light conditions.

For what they cost they both do a pretty good job in low light conditions. I might give the nod to the 50mm but not by much. Maybe it's just my 46 year old eyes

Good scopes ain't cheap.

You might consider a Leupold VXIII or IV variable, like a 4-18 to bring out the potential of your rifle.

Some folks seem intent on going cheap on bases, rings, and scopes.

The assembled rifle is a unit that can only perform as well as the poorest part.

Very true for your rifle I would look at the Bushnell 3200/Leupold vx-II as a bottom line.
