Which .45 ?

Your intended use might narrow your chices down a bit.
If the pistol is primarily for self defense purposes then I would choose a S&W M&P45, Glock-21, Glock-36 (should not use lead bullets in the Glocks) or a CZ.
If you desire to do some target and/or practical pistol game shooting then in addition to the above I would consider a 1911 style or a S&W625 revolver. The plus of the revolver is that using moonclps you pick up you emties 6 at a time.

It's a 645 for me!

The first automatic .45 made by S&W. I got one when they first came out, and it's still my favorite.

If I were to buy a second .45ACP, it would be a FNP, or M&P.

I have a Kimber 1911, a Smith & Wesson Thunder Ranch 22-4, and a S&W Model 457. Why just have one? If it came down to it that I could only have one, I'd go with the 1911 for parts availibility, ease of reloading, ergoninics, and accuracy, followed closely by the Thunder Ranch. Dependability would go to the wheelgun or the 457 (darn gun just eats anything!)
