For my mid-length, the PMC works the best (not sold at Midway, but solid ammo if/when you can find it)

For my carbine, it gets a heavy does of reloads and I'm still burning through the Prvi Partisan I picked up from AIM Surplus in 2007.

I REALLY like the Prvi brass. It is "firmer" than the other domestic brass in 5.56 flavor, but once you get the primer pocket de-swaged, it is a dream for reloading. Solid ammo, and doesn't tend to be as expensive as the other "fancy" versions.

I have like 400 rounds of privi 75gr match, 15 P-mags, and no 5.56 AR or any gun that is chambered for .223 for that matter.

Cheap Monarch, Brown Bear or any other imported cheap stuff for less then 200 yard stuff. Over that, hand loaded 69gr SMK..

Last time I looked at Midway for AR ammo, seems like the Fiocchi had very good reviews for FMJ. It was reasonably priced and in stock also. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=941887

I really like the Privy Partisan ammo, PMC ammo, and even Silver Bear when it was cheap.
