Never had a problem with my Cub when I was on a few acres south of Blanchard. Sold it to a friend when I moved and only needed a push mower for this smaller yard. My only issues was constantly flat tires, which would've been easy enough to permanently resolve.

There are really only two manufacturers of residential mowers from box stores. MTD and AYP. Husqvarna, craftsman and JD are AYP and most of the others are MTD. The biggest advantage is JD parts are readily available at P&K dealerships. You can have your part quickly and be back to work vs ordering online and waiting.
My vote would be the JD D130
