Looks like my collection of hooks and beads.
Between the arthritis in my hands and bad eyes, I just can't handle tying these small flies anymore.

I figured if I could get $30 for these hooks, that'll wind up my commercial "small" fly tying, allowing me concentrate more on the carp, bass and striper flies, among a couple of other specialty flies.

My youngest daughter and I went fishing at Kaw Lake yesterday and caught a total of 15 stripers and hybrids. Nothing to brag about, but fun nonetheless!

We took two flies that I tied the night before, and they were the only flies they would hit.

Put a couple of other flies together, and spotted a couple of tailing carp, cast to the biggest one with a drag and drop, she hit and all heck broke loose! In less than 20 seconds after the take, I was into my backing and I couldn't slow her down. 18 minutes later, my 10 lb. fluorocarbon tippet broke, I almost fell out of the boat, the carp made one last jump and it was all over as quick as it started.

I have caught a carp in the 20 to 30 pound range in my time, and I have always been able to turn a carp, but not this one. I won't even guess as to it's size, but I have to say that it is definitely one of the BETTER carp that I have had on the end of my line!

And the fly used -

Built my first carbon fiber fly rod - 10 ft. length, 4 piece, 7/8 weight, medium action.

Total rod weight is 5 ounces.

Overall rod length is 10' 3"

Rod was built specifically for carp fishing.

Longer butt section allows rod to balance perfectly.

This is the rod I used the other day to catch stripers and hybrids on, and it performed very well!

Anyone interested in a 4 piece fly rod like this, send me a PM.
