you are right tho at the end of the year i do get more than i pay in.

so what your saying is im no better than the people who sit on their porch all day, collect checks every month and sell them for 50 cents on the dollar to go buy some more drugs?

just so you know i dont buy drugs, but my gun collection sure does seem to grow every year.

I am of the opinion that the tax code is in fact the largest form of government welfare ever devised. One doesnt even have to apply, but rather it's compulsory.

The money saved from not paying all the drug users in the system will easily cover the cost of caring for the kids.

It could help with the lawsuit cost which will increase when more children are taken. And that's not including the cost for the current class action against DHS.

No drug tests required. This whole idea, as JP alluded to, is an ineffectual publicity stunt by the conservative politicians.

You keep saying tax return I read the article and I seen nothing about tax return
it says welfare recipients who are trading mony off there cards for cash and such !
And anyway if I have to take one at work what is wrong with someone on the welfare system taking one ? If I can loose my job what is wrong with them losing there benifits
if they are using ! I see nothing wrong with it other than the children are the ones who will be hurt that is the only draw back I see with deal !

According to this mornings fox news, any parent caught in random drug testing, would lose their welfare assistance.
The children would not suffer with this new law, as the money intended to be spent on their health and welfare could be reassigned to another family member.
So, in the long run, it could actually benefit the children, with a grandparent or other family member actually getting the child medical care, proper food, etc.
Money that would otherwise be spent on drugs/alcohol.

You're right. Let's revise the tax code so that everyone pays. I'm sickened by seeing stats like 47% of people don't pay any taxes. I don't care how little you earn, you should pay something. You only make $20k for the year, well, you should be able to pay $1,000 in taxes. That's only 5%. Folks like JB are paying around 35% and that's just their Federal withholding.

I've been on the taxpayer dole, directly or indirectly, my entire adult life, and been subject to drug tesing my entire adult life. Actually longer since I started at 17.

US Military: Drug test required upon entry and random after that for 20+ years
Military Contractor: Drug test prior to hiring and random after that
Federal Employee: Drug test prior to hiring and random after that

But if I quit and go on welfare it's somehow degrading, dehumanizing or discriminatory to expect me to drug test?

Nothing makes sense anymore, don't even know why I try to make it make sense.

It's time we use some common sense here. This idea will just add yet another layer of government bureaucracy that we will have to foot the bill to sustain. It's impossible for me to believe we would save any amount of money by catching these people when you factor in the cost of the tests. Not to mention, as it's already been said, the consequence of getting caught is simply having to list another name that would then receive the benefits to manage instead of giving them directly to whomever tested positive. It seems to me this is just one more impractical idea that doesn't address the underlying entitlement mentality OR even the drug addiction. We need to stop focusing on treating the symptoms of our screwed up society and instead focus on the underlying causes.

All that said, I don't do drugs, support those that do or receive gov't assistance and I would not have a problem with this idea if it was fully paid for by the recipients that were taking the tests. That will never happen.
