It looked pretty obvious he was unfamiliar with firearms in general, and his AR-10-type in particular. He didn't seem the conversational type, so I mostly left him alone. He managed to keep most of his shots on paper at 100y, with effort, with a scope.

Next time I see him, he is shooting no better, but with a Zeiss scope/laser rangefinder combo. I happened to notice what rifle he is shooting: Knights Armament SR-25! Probably the most expensive lesson in "equipment does not equal skill" you could get!

bake, you have no idea how may times I have seen this in my years. Not that I know that much but I understand what you are saying.

I was just thinking he could invest in a little training, and then quantify his equiment needs, but he won't be able to see the advantage of his nice toys for many years, at his rate.

No jealousy here, I was shooting my Patriot Ordnance Factory 308.

I don't know why you would think ill of me for noticing an extreme example of equipment not improving your shooting.

No jealousy here, I was shooting my Patriot Ordnance Factory 308.
