I have a ring somewhere, but stopped wearing any kind of jewelry decades ago when I worked as an electrician and have never been able to get used to it again. Most of the time I do not even wear a watch.

Plain (white) gold band - wide
The symbolism is purity and simplicity - strictly speaking it isn't jewelry it is a sacramental - something that brings to mind a sacrament (in this case matrimony).

I only take it off to fly (used to when I was active duty and kept it in my pocket) or when I lift weights and then just to protect it.

I'm sure you will find the right one for you.

I wish I would have known about these:

Carbon fiber inset!! Awesome. Guy at work has one, but his is either tungsten or titanium with the carbon fiber.

That's exactly what I'm wearing now. The tungsten carbide makes it heavy and after three and a half years hasn't scratched once.

The resin covering the carbon fiber is a different story. It's scratched, but not too badly. Still glad I bought it, but beware, they can't be resized like gold rings. If you plan on swelling later in life be prepared to get a new ring when you outgrow the tungsten carbide one.

I have a tungsten ring with 3 black diamonds. This one replaced my actual wedding band that was just tungsten that was stolen from my house back in August. Love the tungsten....

Mine is silver color, not sure, but I think its Titanium. Nothing fancy, just basic lil over $100 ring from Helzberg or some similar store.

Yeah, i wanted something simple and classy so I went with a yellow gold band with some etching in it which is inlayed with White gold. My wife's ring is probably 10x what mine is in terms of monetary value. Meh, she likes her's and I mine.

Mine is tungsten. From Wal-Mart. No scratches, I only take it off to sleep and shower. And when preparing raw meat. Cleans very easy though. I'm always afraid I'll loose it if i take it off in the woods, so it's seen the inside of several deer carcasses.
