My grandma had one of those flippy step stool hi chairs like that ever since I can remember. In fact it might just be THAT ONE.

Come to think of it, I had a cap gun just like that too.

Thats because of two things

Humor had not been invented yet

People had not become the zombies they are today... looks like they were thinking about what JFK was saying... not digetsting a sound bite.

I'll bet none of them had a TV.
I know my family didn't have one in 1960
