Ha Ha. I also had a 1980 model Honda xl125 when I was 14. I put about a million miles on it.
First ride was a '46 Chevy pickup, then bought a 1957 Chevy Bel Air 2dr hardtop in the summer of '67 at the age of 16. Added a 283 punched .90 over with 327 heads, sold lifters, high compression pistons, and a pretty small Carter 4 barrel on a stock intake. Enough modifications to live with and still OK daily driver.

My favorites were the '81 models. During this time I also had a '74 Honda CR125 Elsinore (wish I still had it). But honestly, the best DP bikes during that era were the Yamaha XT series. Had some buddies that had them and they were great bikes.

Same here. Mine had a 400 big block. I couldn't afford to feed that thing now. You could literally see the fuel gauge drop when you opened the four barrel up. Which I did often.
