Almost the same exact situation happened to me a few months back. The officer who pulled me over was OHP. He knew, somehow, that I had a CCW license. And he also thought I was supposed to inform him even though I wasn't carrying. I gently corrected him and told him that I had read the statutes several times and perhaps he could go back and reread it.
I got pulled over once by an OHP north of Muskogee... this was about 4AM on the Turnpike. As he was approaching I had all my windows down and my dome light on, hands on the wheel, staring straight ahead.
His first question was, "Are you a cop?" Of course, I told him no. Asked why. He said, "Because you did everything we want you to do." lol
I did not inform him of my CCL because I wasn't carrying that morning (forgot it at home I think). Anyways, when he got me back to the car he mentioned he saw I had a CHL and asked if I were carrying and I said no, not today, I forgot it.
He was very cordial, gave me my warning (81 in a 75 I think) and let me go on my way. It was then I found out that at least the troopers could see our CHL status on their computers.
So that was that.

I don't think this is a high probability of success bet.
It might be helpful if LEO’s would chime in about what they can actually see. The usual story of my cousin’s girlfriend’s brother works for xx and he told me mobile cop shows him xx is never reliable. If you really can see CHL status it’s a game changer for all of us so far as etiquette goes. Heck, I wouldn’t mind if it was an added endorsement on my DL so I could have one less thing in my wallet. Also, is that information readily available just using my license plate info?
Why does it matter? So what if they can tell if you have a handgun license? I just hand them both license, tell them im armed. And for some reason I have been let off twice with a warning. Maybe it's because I'm so good looking.......
it does not show up with lic plate query. one state does but i forget which one it is. All that shows up is you have a permit when i run a drivers lic. Nothing else. And not all the MDT systems show it. I can only speak for ours, and its fairly standard statewide. Alot of agencies use it.

I believe its Missouri, the carry license is on one's drivers license and in the state DMV database. IIRC they were caught passing that info on to federal authorities through "unofficial requests."
They can tell anyway through databases. I think the SDA permit should be an endorsement on your license. Since you have to show both anyway, why not eliminate one card. Once approved, they give you the paper to take to tag office and get your new license with SDA endorsement.
