and you will not sell ANYTHING to ANYONE in KOMMIEFORNIA.

But, you took his money so ship the product. Don't be surprised when Eric Holder, Chris Hansen or some counterpart shows up at your door.

Quite a few dealers on Gunbroker flat out just refuse to sell high capacity guns, mags to anyone in states with capacity limits. I would refund his money and re-post with this caveat.

Well after seeing the overwhelming concern here I am wishing I checked the thread again before shipping the mags but I did indeed ship them so fingers crossed nothing happens...

Lets play for a minute anyway though (since I shipped them it may not be playing long) what exactly could I be charged with?

I've done my due diligence within reason, and possibly more, by requesting ID. How would this be any different than if I sold a firearm to someone who is not legally allowed to own one?

Local OK scenario:

Me: Hi, did you bring my $450 for the G23 I am about to sell you?
Buyer: Yes I did here it is.
Me: Ok, great. Is there anything that prevents you from legally owning a firearm in the state of Oklahoma?
Buyer: Nope
Me: Ok heres your gun and I have my money. Have a good one!

Turns out buyer is actually a convicted felon and I sold to him but because I asked and he lied I am not criminally responsible for the sale. This is my understanding anyhow.

So now my situation:

Buyer: hey do you have those mags?
Me: Yep
Buyer: Great I sent the money to paypal. Please ship to {CA Zip Code}
Me: Hey I see you are in CA, I don't think I am able to sell you these mags.
Buyer: It's ok to sell them to me, I am an LEO and can legally own these mags.
Me: This may seem a bit ridiculous but trying to CYA can you send me any proof of your LEO status that would make it legal for me to sell these to you.
Buyer:Sends image Badge and Photo ID with name


So here me, as the seller, have done my part to reasonably verify the legality of the sale. How is this situation any different than the above in the sense that I as the seller have done what I am capable of doing to verify the legality of the sale? He could have presented this fake ID in person as was already pointed out and I wouldn't know the difference. The criminals are going to commit crime. I as the seller have done what I am able to, to verify the legality of the buyer's ownership. He can legally own them AFAIK.

If he is indeed a police officer you should be okay, but you should have at least disassembled the mag to make it magazine parts kit instead of a "high capacity" magazine. you can legally ship parts kits to CA(for now).


for everyone of these don't ship to CA threads, there are at least two threads on calguns of someone complaining that an out of stater wont ship, even though its legal to do so.
