I can confirm, from Dave Osborne himself, that he will no longer be organizing gun shows, though he will continue to participate as a vendor when able.

What a pity. I only attended two of his shows, but I liked how they were put together. I guess my gun show attendance is now back down to just Wanenmacher.

Metcalf was right.

What? Somebody had to say it.

You're correct - the guy who predicted that an entrenched pseudo-cartel managed system has a distinct advantage over an upstart with a more consumer friendly business model was correct. And now the whole gun show circuit is poorer for the loss.

Maybe someone with more capital behind his business plan, a stronger local base, and a fresh start can launch a more successful challenge. That would be the best result of this.

I would also like to point out that the Bad-Shot shows, run by OSA's own Navy-Chief (Matt Hindi), are still going strong. They were inspired for similar reasons to the SuperDave shows but with a slightly different business model that seems more resilient. So Metcalf was only partly right - he predicted they'd all be gone after a year.

That would be awesome.

From a vendors point, the problem with Super Dave's shows were that he had problems getting buyers through the doors. Once vendors realized that the shows were not profitable Dave had to resort to recruiting non-firearm related vendors. The shows reached the point that there were fewer firearms than beanie baby and scentsy types of products.
