folks make jokes of stuff like a kipping pullup but in a real world situation, if you were supposed to climb up on something, would you pull yourself up stiff bodied so to only work your arms? Nope, you'd use your whole body to pull yourself up. It trains you to feel, move and use your whole body to accomplish tasks. Not just your extremities.

You kind of make it sound like a cult we dont do normal things like other people we will pay anything to do crossfit 24/7

If you have to pull yourself up a wall falling about and humping the wall won't help, brut strength will get you over it.

Excellent article. All true in my opinion. The ugly part is why I chose not to go to a crossfit gym and chose to do a lot of the same exercises and lifts on my own right after crossfit came out. I do think with the surge in popularity we are starting to see higher quality coaching and more attention being paid to technique and form. Like anything a person does, it pays to research and understand the program and it's limitations.
I never could understand why crossfit was so controversial. It's really nothing new if you think about it.

The Chive Crossfit chicks are about all that interest me about Crossfit...LOL. (although I like the practical/functional fitness angle of it)

Being anti-social, I'm happier in my garage or out on the road/trails....I hate all gyms.

I'm working on a similar fitness regimen influenced by Joe Mangiello's recent book. http://www.nydailynews.com/life-sty...-true-blood-joe-manganiello-article-1.1535470

The biggest challenge is figuring ways to get the work done living in a semi, meaning no gym access. I started putting together gear I could carry in the truck and put it to use at rest areas, truckstops, wherever.
I got a bench with adjustable incline and folding legs online that stows under the bunk. kettlebell, dumbells and 10ld ankle/wrist wts so far. next will be an olympic bar, curl bar, and some plates.

One thing you may be able to add to your gear is a TRX suspension trainer. TRX is a brand but if you google you will see what I'm talking about. Good for a lot of varied body weight exercises and allows you to vary the workout so you don't get bored with the same push-ups, air-squats, etc. the anchor point will hook to many different things. May he worth a look.

Good Tip! I used some gear like that during PT after knee surg. Wal-Mart has 40lb "rubber bands" I've looked at. So far, it's movements like lat pulldowns, v-bar tricep ext,etc that I lack the gear for. I'm looking at buying a decent alum-frame bike from a pawn for cardio.

Ohhh, Hump. That picture #3 is of Christmas Abbott. Hmmm, hmmmmm, hmmmmm!! She is quite the gal. If you don't like crossfit you still have a reason to like her. She was also on a NASCAR pit crew for a year or two. That is one good looking lady. I wish they made a scratch and sniff poster of her.

Confession time. My wife just started Crossfit and I gave it a shot. I went to a introductory session and one private lesson to learn some of the lingo and exercises. I like it...and my wife looks pretty good in those leggings.

I think I'll give it a go.
