No, the new carry law has nothing to do with it.
Criminals are always a concern, because they don't obey the laws. Officers have no way of knowing what they'll encounter when they approach your vehicle.
You asked why informing the officer on a traffic stop would make a difference, and I simply gave you my opinion. I stand by that.
It's still your call.
Actually it does, but since you stated over and over again that you would just rather continue telling the cop upfront and be whipping out your unnecessary license without even being asked, you’re not gonna see what I’m saying, as mattering.
But yes, criminals are always a concern, and yes, officers have no way of knowing who they’re going to encounter in a traffic stop but, nothing really has changed between the old way and the new way. Even during the old way, they don’t know that that person might have a gun, whether they actually show up in his system as a permit holder or not. They won’t know he’s got a gun until he finds out whether it be from asking the person, or the person is pulling it and trying to use it on him.
Since the rules have changed, that’s just how it is. If it makes you feel better to still show a permit there by all means, do it. Maybe some cops care, but some don’t. That cop I was talking about, couldn’t have cared less. The only thing he was glad about was me telling him I had one without him having to ask but like I said, voluntary disclosure is a thing of the past. You wanna continue doing it, there’s nuthin wrong with that, at all. Hell, I’ll probably continue doing the same thing but my permit will stay in my wallet because I’ll betcha anything most cops won’t care about that permit. If you’re voluntarily telling every cop that pulls you over that you have a pistol before he has a chance to ask you if he even does, he’s going to probably safely assume that you’re somebody who’s allowed to have a gun in the first place because usually people that aren’t allowed to have a gun, ain’t going to open right up and tell the dude theu got one....lol.
Besides, when he takes your license and information back to his car to run it, he’s going to find out right away if you’re allowed to have that gun or not so showing a permit ain’t going to mean anything, just sayin. I’m not trying to convince you to stop, I’m just simply saying all this for anybody else who might read it who thinks that they still need to flash their permit at a cop when they get pulled over because I seriously don’t think you need to do it but again as I said, if you want to continue showing your permit to a traffic cop then be my guest, go right ahead, nobody cares. And I don’t even think the officer cares either.
