No matter what you think of him, he left a family that is grieving. Pot shots about his business practices and gloating on the day he died is pretty low. I never had any personal experience with him, but at least he spent his money here in Oklahoma and employed lots of people. When the Gaylords ran this state all they wanted to do was spend money in nashville and hollywood. You can detest his business practices, but he should also be remembered for doing a lot of good things for a lot of people in this state.

I agree with that.

He was definitely a polarizing figure, but so are most people that reach his level in business or anything else.

I would guess the death of Harold Hamm or Dick Cheney or any other number of high level executives would be met with the same comments.

I didn't know him, and I'm certainly in no position to judge him or his business practices.

It looks like those wanting their pound of flesh from him are SOL. Unless it's really just about the money.

But the oilfield guys are the ones chasing the almighty dollar aren't they?

He was a scum bag. A really nasty, bad guy that screwed shareholders out of millions, if not billions, while he and his entire family lived a 5 star life on the company dime. Got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and took the punk way out. Screw him. The Tahoe was more valuable than he was.

This is the biggest problem with deleting posts as a form of moderation.

A moderator could inconsistently delete posts purely be accident, but it will be (understandably so) perceived as bias by the members.

Are we entering the second reign of that again? LOL.

Posts that are threatening, illegal, or pornographic of course should be deleted. Members making undesired posts that don't fit in those first three categories could be dealt with in a different way that would lead to less backlash from the membership, one would think.

Yes. As best i can tell, Ace calling him a scum bag didn't violate any of the forum rules. It certainly was in poor taste, though. Your post, however, did violate the rules.

We've also left up many of the other posts critical of ace's comment that didn't wish him ill.
