Cracked casing on .223 Rem

You said you were at a range, are you sure it was yours or could it have been left by someone else?

Unlikely, but possible... area was pretty clean & same had stamp as my other ammo... Anyhow, sounds like it was a defect in the casing, not an issue with my rifle.

except for just being mishandled, all I can think of is a bolt over ride.

Hopefully you still have the box it came from. If so, contact Federal with an explanation of the failure and a picture, along with the lot number from the box of ammo. You might just get a new box of ammo from Federal for your trouble.. They do need to know if there was a problem with that lot of ammo.

I agree. Your feedback is the only way that they will know if they have an issue or not.

I contacted federal & they sent me a brief thank you email... Unfortunately, no free ammo from them.
