I just heard something that so far I haven't been able to confirm.

Did Obama sign a exec order yesterday giving congress a pay raise after they said that was voted out?? If so, I bet that gives the jobless folks out there who voted for these losers a warm fuzzy.

The President cannot give Congress pay raises by Executive Order or by any other means. In fact any pay raises that would affect the 2013-2015 Congress were put into effect by a previous Congress because a sitting Congress cannot raise its own pay - only for a future Congress.

It was a .5 to 1% raise for fed employees...which includes Congress.

Very poor timing....but my understanding is that both the Senate and House versions of the fiscal cliff bill counteracted the EO.

I wouldn't say "most". While there are a lot of hard working folks in federal service, from my little corner of a federal agency I see a lot of fat that could be trimmed. Public servants should be the last to go to the trough, and the first to skip a turn at the trough when things are tough. But that's just the opinion of one low ranking fed.
