I love my 642 and have always carried it as a front pocket gun in a pocket holster. But it's a drag to "lose" one of your front pockets; have to carry your keys, phone, etc. all in the other pocket. While pocket carry has some tactical advantages (can get a hand on the gun when situation is still ambiguous, without brandishing/threatening) it also has disadvantages (you're hosed when seated in a car; can be hard to access from other positions).
I'd like to experiment with IWB belt carry of the snubby, for the situations when I can't CCW a larger handgun on my belt. I am thinking that for this small gun I want to try front of the body carry. Crossdraw, appendix carry, something like that.
What's a good holster rig? Quality, ease of use, and low profile are key. I prefer leather but would consider kydex. I'd like a holster that provides some passive retention, i.e., a snug fit.
Any suggestions very much appreciated!
Thanks.
