If I had answers to every situation that "could" arise with shooting I would have so much money with the books and conferences I would be putting on around the country this would be a guess but I'm thinking that most people will do more damage cleaning thier firearms than actual firing! running a cleaning rod down the muzzel, not using a chamber guide stuff like that. I've seen nickle plating flake off of steel but brass and copper as a base not much unless there were some sort of impurity under the nickle, with the computerized lines they have now the days of pulling racks of parts where impurities could effect the plating have all but vanished but can still happen it's not a perfect world.
The discussion about what you shoot in your rifle and the effects would be like discussing barrel break in procedures or a better battle would be religion! it boils down to this, if it works for you and gets you the results you want then by all means continue with what you know and are confident in but don't bash or downgrade others for their ways or beliefs. A word of caution is always appreciated if you had a instance of failure doing what someone is posting about but no need to bash that's kinda childish. Later,

I will try to do better in articulating my thoughts in the future so that I do not leave the wrong impression to others. I think Kirk's statement is right on.
