The two things I took away from this are:

Most people will stop attacking you if you shoot them with any gun.

Shot placement matters. (We all know this one)

Reading that says what I was trying to get at in a different thread ( 9mm . 40. 45 ) if you are close to the perp and you hit them with bullets then chances are they will stop coming at you no matter what caliber you are shooting.

So what I'm getting from this is:

The debate should not be between .45, 9mm, and .40. It should also include small .22LR guns.

That'll make the .45 advocates mad.

It is true that a .22 LR in your pocket sure does beat a .45 in the car.

I guess what this study confirms is the adage that the first rule of a gunfight is to have a gun.

I still prefer my .45 though

I just learned that I'd better be real lucky or be able to get at least 2 rounds on the target regardless of the caliber of my weapon.
