Remember, it is an auction and the price is what they estimate it will sell for.
I have a customer who has bought a dozen guns there this last year and he always gets them for far under their estimated value.

Don't worry....somebody will give the auction one star and the price will drop. 
Rock Island Auctions specializes in this kind of stuff, they are a good choice for selling this gun. It's not like your standard Gunbroker type auction at all. They have lots of high end stuff.
Anybody ever find out what this gun sold for?
There is a Singer 1911 listed under previous auctions that sold for $166,750.00 dont know if its the same one or not
