Laser jammers are illegal in Oklahoma and they definitely use LiDAR here. But you can use them in other states that don't have a ban, since they are not illegal federally.

I was coming back from Gore OK on a fishing trip I had my V65 Magna and my buddy on the back.
Usually cruising at a limit above the speed limit.
I come up on this old pickup truck and he flashes his lights at me after I passed him.

I am no dummy so I slow it down to his speed and get beside him and I point at my Escort radar detector I have stuck on my clutch reservoir.

He holds up the Mic for his CB radio and shakes his head.
I chime in behind him and sure enough a few miles up the road is a Smokey that is flicking his radar on just for a moment.

The Escort would have got me a ticket It had X- K-KA this was back in the 1990's

I wonder if you get Smokey reports today on the CB radio.
Used to people would flash their lights to warn you.

Do you always obey the speed limits? Ahhhh, didn’t think so. Thanks for playing.

Whether radar or other means they are in use by many.
I did until my cruise control went out. I find that now I tend to go with the flow which is always faster than the speed limit. But long as you’re not passing of people you shouldn’t really have an issue. I’ve never had a speeding ticket in my life

I run a cobra in every vehicle I have. I have three different models. The one in my DD is the oldest, the speaker is on its way out so it may get replAced soon. It has saved my butt numerous times. Do not get the cheapest model because it will pick up every vehicle that has a backup sensor or things like that. The oldest one I have picks up Mazda SUVs and newer Chrysler Pacifica minivans often. But when it does it reads K band. Usually all law enforcement around here uses Ka band.

I had an Escort back in the day, mid 80-90's. It was great, if you knew how to use it.

If you were on some dark deserted highway and there weren't any cars in front of you they don't help. If they are just triggering and not running with it on by the time it went off it was too late. I got a road side inspection one night on the Muskogee turnpike. I had an '83 prelude and was running about 92. He hit me, I slammed on the breaks and he had cleared it and shot me again cause he said he thought it was an incorrect reading. When he hit me again I was 5 miles below the limit, and he was one po'ed trooper. Said my brakes lights lit up the sky. He didn't write me, but I'll never know why. I got a pretty stern what for though. Damn he was mad.

Ha, enjoy reading this. I am 73 and most likely have had more speeding tickets than most posting here if the records go back that far, most before detectors. Back then 125+ in my 327 56 chev in a 65 posted was a $20 ticket. I started running detectors when Radio Shack (Originally aTulsa company) came out with one. It has been a battle of the electronics since then. One guy on one side of the street manufacturing and selling radar guns and equipment to LEO. His brother on the other side of the street manufacturing and selling detectors for the public. (Supposed to be a real story several years ago from one of the car magazines). haha One time I was in an aquward situation, thought I had turned my detector off, but it kept going off and beeping as his partner was shooting others while I was showing my license to the officer out my window. Well he did not think that was funny, but he did gave me a warning and said I must have been paying attention to my driving that I knew I was speeding but I also was aware of what was going on around me rather than being asleep at the wheel. Cool Dude who was real and realized I was driving safely at the speed I was.

I never got over the "need for speed," but found other ways to get it. Fast dirt bikes, Mechanicing a Nitro funnycar a couple years. Then later having an OHP plane 2 hangars down from mine. He rode a Suzuki Hayabusai to work many days. I always wondered if that might be a "Conflict of interest"? One time I asked him if it idled in first gear below the speed limit? He just looked at me and smiled. haha

Just read the post before mine that came in while I was typing. "jakeman" Some LEO's realize, 65 is not the same to all people and a cure all. Some people out here driving are not safe at 40 while some people are aware and safe at 90 if they are the only one out on the road with no traffic of dumb asses impeding them they have to look out for.. Attention level and skills come into play. Reminds me of a lot of years ago. Guy by the name of Mario Andretti got a speeding ticket in Indiana on the way home, after winning the Indy 500. Yep, he broke "The Law" Got to write him a ticket. Humm

I drive a company fleet vehicle and radar detectors, jammers and other “speeding” equipment are never allowed in a company vehicle. We can and are encouraged to utilize Waze though. They don’t allow stickers/decals/logos of any kind or smoking, either.
