Recommend an AK ??

For a first AK I would try to find a Chinese mak 90. WASR rifles are ok but a little to rough for my taste. I love Arsenal AK's but the 7.62 cal rifles are harder to find. Never had an O-PAP Serbian(Yugo) rifle but I've read some had feed issues as the bolt is for the single stack mags and then when they come over here and get the mag well opened up for double stacks the bolt is to narrow to contact the next round properly.

I personally try to avoid anything made by CAI. Word of warning, AK's are addicting and once you get one more will follow.

The single stack bolt issue was not on the o-pap, but an earlier pap version. I have an o-pap and a newer n-pap and love them. The o-pap is the heavier duty more overbuilt version, but are a little harder to find.

The Yugo MB70AB series are pretty nice, especially if you like an underfolder.

I have an old Yugo underfolder that has been great.
I love the old AMDs.

I think my tastes are leaning more towards a folding stock and I assume once folded can be used like a pistol version.. and with as many aftermarket parts there are I'm also assuming they make folding stocks easily removed with a pin to act as pistol without getting in the way...

Removing a stock from a rifle is a big NO NO. I like under folders but there not the most ergonomic version ot an AK.



i like the AK's with the optic rail. Its the best way to have optics on an AK.

I beleive under state law it changes the classifacation from a rifle to a pistol which is illegal. This is just my understanding of the law. Not sure how you would go about registering the weapon as a pistol to make it legal. Ok laws might be differant but im pretty sure this is the case in OK.
