The prices for .22 ammo seemed to be about .12 cents a round for bulk ammo and about .18 cents for name brand (CCI mini mag, Winchester Super X, etc)

Do your dad a favor and steer him to a real Makarov. That would be anything Soviet, Bulgarian, East German, or Chinese in the original PM style.

I have had some P-64 9x18 guns, and they are okay, but for the long haul, the PM is the only way to go.

Calling any other 9x18 a Makarov is like calling any .45 acp a 1911. These things have 27 parts, and are uber reliable. I have owned a ton of them, but am down to just a couple that I still carry and one Soviet made one that is sort of a collector's item. Your best bet is to find a Bulgarian one. It'll have a "10" inside two circles on the left side.

Makarov.com is out of business, but they have kept their site open as a public service.

Yeppers the Remington 525 box was $62.75 cash price before tax the lady said, more if'n you want to use a credit card. More than .12 cents a round.

My son and I arrived early Sat and each got 100 rds of 45acp Blazer Brass for $36.00. No tax. Not bad.
