You play with fire and you get burned. I watched the series about this guy and the other and all I can say is it happens. If the other guy lives to old age I'll be shocked. These guys know how to handle snakes, they breed them for profit, often ilegally so they know the dangers but believe they are protected from harm through their faith. It's sad to see something like that happen but it's part of their religion.

I suspect if he meets god it'll go like this:

Jamie: Lord I've been bitten multiple times, lost a finger and got pretty sick but you protected my life up until now, why?

God: Jamie.....I have better things to do than to keep saving people from dancing around with snakes in my name. I made them poison so nobody would play with them.

He shoulda tried the foot-washing branch of the olde time religion. It's killed quite a few less folks than the snake-handling branch. Made for better smelling feet, too.
