Do they eat the chickens or just the eggs?

They have only eaten the eggs, but I did have one try to eat a chicken. It died and the head down to the shoulders was all wet and icky where it tried to swallow it down.

Most times I find them in the nesting boxes with a belly full of eggs.

...and of course can never ever find any .22 shot shells. Anywhere.

My granddad had a remedy for egg-eating snakes. He'd go to the hardware store and buy cheap second-hand white porcelain door knobs. He'd then leave them around his chicken coop. Try digesting that, Mr. Snake.
