What kind of bones are these?

At that size, my guess is the forelimb of a large dog, or maybe a coyote...

Der. Much more likely this is the case. Didn't even think dog.

It looks big in the picture though.

And it still looks a bit like a human hand. Could be Goatboy.

The bones of a dog's forelimb extend up into the leg of the dog - the paw is just the distal phalanges (not sure if this is the correct terminology). See the diagram below:

Likely, the bones in the OP's pic are missing the distal phalanges.

By big I meant wide. It looked very wide in the first pic to me with no size reference. Next to the charcoal it's easier to see it's not very big.

It's not pretty, that's for sure.

Yes, go count the dog's feet. Better yet, post a pic of one of his feet...if he has any left.
