Kit being put together:

Blackhawk Omega Crossdraw tactical vest: 5.56 ammo, pistol, .40 ammo, folding knife, multi-tool, LED flashlight.

5.11 Rush 72 backpack: 12" hacking blade, firestarter, magnifying glass, sealed tinder, first aid kit, paracord, woodcutting chain, survival blankets (small folded reflective), compact survival book, signal mirror, first aid kit, solar panel, rechargeable batteries, 2nd LED flashlight, vacuum-sealed dry food (plus possibly MREs)...

other items may be added as weight bears. These are just off the top of my head.

Would love to be able to fit the Henry survival 22 rifle in there somewhere.

Oops, almost forgot the dehydrated water.

Any and all feedback and criticism on my lit would be much appreciated! Again there are some things that might be left off the list depending on how heavy the bag gets. I think I read somewhere that you should only carry up to 33% of your body weight. At 6 foot 5 inches and 300 pounds I think I am going to go up to 75 pounds (I know it sounds like alot) and that means my wife's can only be 33pounds at most. I am going to organize the list in order of importance and then fill my bag up until I am at my weight limit. Also I forgot to include that I will have a .22 rile and pistol in each bag.

@GlockedandLoaded - Lights up quick and burns like a torch! Check out this video...

Very cool, im adding that. suppose a small ziplok bag will work.
heres a few things ive thought of that perhaps some others havent.
Flask of whiskey. SHTF you may need a drink after you get settled.
i found a Solar battery and usb charger for 20 $ on ebay
also a small 12 v power inverter so you can use 110v appliances
small assortments of zip ties
tampons for gunshot injuries

LOL! exactly why I dont advertise what I got for SHTF situations.. There's always some sniper around the corner who can pick me off 1000yds away..

Me and the wifes packs are 35 & 28 lbs respectively.. Minus ammo cans. (have room for 2)
And we've hiked them 6 miles in and out of the woods and know we could do it for real.

I think thats the big thing you gotta look at as well, the practical. Take it for a test run (just like a new car) and see if you like it or could even manage it.
Then think about trying to manage it with a sprained ankle, twisted knee, etc, etc..

I see that some have "tactical vests" listed.. What about tactical body armor vests or helmets? Just curious, I mean, if we are gonna go "all out" survival..

And what about dogs?
I have a dane and mastiff that can tote as well, has anyone ever gone as far as harnessing them up to carry loads? We also have a chihuahua, she would be for emergency food rations only..
