I still have friends that live in Sonoma, 'the valley of the moon'. I rode my motorcycle through Napa many times. The thing I remember about Napa, and Sonoma was like you said all the hippies, that wore no bras and wore see through shirts.

I have a buddy that moved to Sonoma and is still living there. He and his wife both work and are living in a tiny one bedroom apartment, trying to pay off loans and working a job or two each. Living the dream, I suppose. Most of Napa and Sonoma are yuppies anymore. The snobbish, new money wannabe hipsters that think everything they don't like was "so last year". All the half naked hippies moved to a few smaller communities, and most of the rainbow hippies moved to Guerneville.

the slopes at Squaw Valley.

This is the one thing I miss, honestly. I use to make "day trips" to the slopes and ski for the day, then drive home. It is about 3 to 4 hours from the ski resorts to the beach, and there is a lot to do in between.

Like i said, CA is a wonderful place, if you could remove 90 some percent of the population.

Raised in the high desert, Antelope Valley, Lancaster in fact. Dad worked at Edwards Air Force Base so we got to see all the fastest, highest flying aircraft ever built. Worked aerospace for Lockheed, Northrop. North American/Boeing for 30 years total. Move here in 96 and love it. Do miss the hunting in the foot hills. Going back this summer to visit family and friends this summer. Miss it a little, would I go back? Hell no,

My parents were living in Daly City (a few blocks from The Cow Palace) when I was, ahem......conceived. My dad got out of the Navy and they returned to Oklahoma shortly before I was born. I always joke that being conceived in San Francisco during the "Summer of Love", I'm really a hippy at heart!

I remember seeing Kenny Roberts race at the Cow Palace.

I still live there. I live most of my year here in Oklahoma and part of the time in Des Moines Iowa where I have a business I co-own, the rest of the time Im up at my place in Calaveras county California, it's near Arnold. My parents were both born and raised in Oklahoma but my mom also grew up in LA. When I was born my dad was in the Marines and so like alot of other people here it looks like I was raised in the San Diego area, mostly near La Jolla for me. My mom moved back to Oklahoma when I was 10. I moved to the bay area after HS to go to some San Francisco area school(s) and to start my music career. After art, music, culinary, and mortuary schools I ran a small business in Modesto but lived in Sonora while I built a small Aframe cabin further up the mountains on some of our family owned land. My grandfather bought up alot of properties and land in the 1930s in northern California and now me and my 3 older sibs all work together managing the properties.
