Because he didn't tap.
The fighters, refs, promoters, announcers, and anybody halfway involved with mma knows what a tap looks/feels like. That wasn't it.
I don't see either fighter tapping in the first round...not to a choke/ not that quick. Hendricks would probably go to sleep before tapping that early.
I hate to disagree with everyone who says Hendricks won but even after hearing the talk that he dominated this fight and going into watching it with expectations of seeing him dominate, and pulling for an Oklahoma guy in my heart, I still think GSP won. The bloodiest guy isn't always the loser. I think GSP won rounds 1,3 and 5. I have no problem with this decision. I think Hendricks did tap but GSP had already let go becuause he thought he was losing the hold, but that's a minor point. Dana White saying what he said is meaningless too. His only goal is to sell more tickets and more PPV. Saying what he said ensures more hype for the rematch and increases Hendricks' star even if there isn't a rematch.
