In light of the recent hate on 700s in other threads, I thought I'd post this up...
I bought a 700 in .270 two years ago from a gunsmith. It is an ADL, and unbedded. The gunsmith had put about an 2lb trigger on it....just a beautiful trigger of the old type.
Before I bedded it, it shot about 1 MOA cold. But once the barrel heated up, I'd start vertical stringing...BAD.
So I bedded it myself, and ended up breaking off the bolt in the process. So I finished the bedding, got an improved and longer bolt welded on and voila....
Sub-MOA @100yds!
This was from a standing, but supported position.
So Remington 700s aren't top of the line, but I have a rifle that shoots Sub-MOA for under $700, that's a pretty good deal.
