Plenty of references in the article, and again if they were justified why did they lie?

I'm referencing the bigger picture leading up to what really happened. Don't care about the semantics or confusion on "who started it" on Wikipedia where Tim Howards was recently named Secretary of Defense. Especially since there were SEVERAL events leading up to the war. I'm just curious how objective some individuals would be if they had withstood a fraction of the violence Israel has seen? Granted I'm not saying they are completely innocent but the fact remains, as stated previously, that if Palestinians lay down their arms, there would be peace.

I don't believe either side can be objective. Which is why the U.S. should be. We have waded knee-deep into this mess, and chosen a side. (just like Washington warned us against)

Many things happened leading up to that, as I've already agreed neither side is innocent.

As for Wiki there are many references there and other places that discuss the subject and post documentation like the statements I posted from Israeli officials for anyone who wants to study the issue further.

As for violence how many Israelis have died compared to Palestinians? How many Israelis have had their homes demolished or land taken?

And there might be peace if the Palestinians lay down their arms but who knows for sure? Would/should America insure that claim? Are you ready to lay down your arms on assurances from the Gov. that crime is lower than ever and the Gov. will protect you and yours? How about when the Gov. comes in and takes your home, farm, etc.?

There were and always have been Jews in Palestine and they were not wiped out and there was not the conflict we see today until occupiers and outsiders decided they would change things to suit themselves and deal with an issue nobody wanted to face or honestly talk about in a less than intelligent manner.

How about if it was decided to set up a homeland for Mexicans in the Southwest U.S. because they're having a tough time in Mexico? Then after a small enclave is established more Mexicans emigrate there and become stronger with outside support and start to expand farther and farther displacing other people who are already established there? If you were there would you resist or lay down?

Glocktogo, it is certainly true that the Palestinian leadership is guilty of many failures in the past.
The old saying among US diplomats was Arafat never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

However, doesn't the Israeli policy of expansion of settlements, on land that still belongs to Palestinians legally, also contribute to ongoing hostilities?
And Netanyahu expands settlements at the same time US leaders are attempting to Shepard peace talks.
It makes it appear to be a deliberate attempt, on Netanyahu's part, to scuttle the talks.

I am willing to place blame on both sides. Many and perhaps most people on this forum are not.

If I remember correctly ol' Yasser got pretty rich, fat, and sassy while his people were suffering didn't he?

He's a devout Muslim. Been told to hate Israelis 'cause than ran his grandad off the family farm in '48. Bulldozed the olive trees, so the family wouldn't be inclined to try to come back. Had radical clerics tell him America and Israel are one in the same. Gets his news from Al-Jezeera, high school education.

well, we know where that is headed then, dont we?

I take it back. He could just sell out like this man did.

"From the age of zero I was told that Israel stole Palestine from us, but when I was 14 I woke up. I discovered that Jews are not bad," says Ala Wahib, an operations officer at a key IDF training base, and the highest-ranked Muslim officers in the Israeli army."

Well, it looks like Israel is mounting ground operations into Gaza. Finally had enough.

Meanwhile, the "leader" of the free world will be attending a political fund raiser tonight.

It's a waste of lives, time and money. As soon as they leave it will start all over.

True, but they can't just sit there and take missiles every day. If your neighbor is taking swings at you every day and won't stop, you have to punch him in the nose every now and then just to remind him of the consequences. When those three Israeli teenagers were murdered, Hammas started something that they'll regret.

They wont regret it or learn from it. Neither will Israel. They world, however, grows tired of Israels heavy handness. Its just a matter of time.
