A wee, humble cottage...

On Saturday, October 18th, Mrs. GED and I will celebrate 28 YEARS of wedded, marital bliss.

I know, right?!

Anyways...I had plans of taking her to the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa for the weekend.

Well, she announced to me this afternoon that wherever we go and whatever we do had better not involve being around other human beings. Period.

You see...she's the asst. librarian at the local public library and she deals with people...

All. Day. Long.

And I'm talking every walk of life. Educated people, flunkies, tweekers, thinkers, drinkers, smokers, tokers, unemployed, overworked, nit-wits, half-wits, misfits, dipshits, bums, scums - you name it.

So. I thought maybe we could go spend the weekend in a cabin somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

Anybody have any ideas of a nice place? Let's hear it.

The Eureka Springs area has tons of private cabins out in the sticks. Not so far from town that you can't enjoy a nice dinner, or shopping in short order.

I got nuffin cuz me and GC have just recently been talking about the same thing but I haven't really looked around yet ...

but CONGRATS!! I hope the two of us make it to 28 ...

Based on my son's experience taking his wife there, I'd second this recommendation as worthy of consideration.

I also recommend Beavers Bend, beautiful place and very relaxing.

I looked at the Beavers Bend cabins.

Wow! They are gorgeous! There was one there called "Chasing Fireflies" that literally had a king size bed suspended from the ceiling with ropes! Holy sheet! Are you kidding me?

But...

One nights rate was $225!!! with a 2 night minimum!

There's no way in hell we can afford that!

Nice suggestion, but no thanks.

Call beavers bend state park. Their cabins are nice and good rates.

Or get a tent and go camping in a remote area. Kiamichi Wilderness Area is beatiful.
