I've only known one person personally who owned a Kimber. It was newer and he said it was a jam-o-matic. Look up Ron Cohen. He ran Kimber into the ground while there. He now runs SIG who he's also doing quite the number on. I guess Kimber never recuperated?

I had a Kimber Warrior (5 in.) that was an excellent weapon. Reliable, very accurate, great trigger. I had a Kimber Pro (4 in.) that was awful, right out of the box.

The problem I have with Kimber is, when you get in their high end stuff. The high end line cost as much as a Les Baer, and a Kimber is no where near the class as a Baer. Not a hater, just not for me..

Ive only had one, but never had an issue with it. I think its mainly fan boys of specific brands that target others and just want to justify their own purchases and investment into their platform.

I just can get over the "Custom Shop," claim.

This.

I've owned a bunch of 1911's over the years, but none of them are as nice as sig imo. Kimber makes a pretty gun, but you can get a lot more for less if you go with any other brand. Their Entry line is dissapointing for the price for sure, but some of the "custom shop" ones are a little better.

There's a "1911s to avoid" thread going on where I posted a couple times about my personal experience with Kimbers. I won't repost here, but in short:

They are pretty and accurate. Unfortunately, they either "work" or "don't". I've owned two. One was at best "finicky", and the other just flat barely worked. I still have the "finicky" one. It only cost me $1k...

I had one; hence my screen name. It was a Compact model, 4" barrel on an officers length frame. It was smooth shooting, extremely accurate, and reliable... given good mags and regular recoil spring changes. It was a Series 1, before the firing pin safety of the Series II guns, and had an internal extractor. If it had been a full size I'd still have it.

I haven't ever had one, so I don't have an opinion either way. You sure can't go on what a few guys on the internet say, that we never met, or one tricky gun, or even several. That doesn't cover all the good guns that you don't hear about.

Look at the Century AK legend. They're all junk. Well as they have sold thousands upon thousands, something tells me they have had more functioning AKs then not.

Look at all of the companies that have had all kinds of recalls.

Now as for price? Hey, if it seems too much for any product, be it a gun, house, Coach brand purse? Don't buy it. How hard is that?
