Hey guys, I'm in the market for a gun safe and was looking for some input. I don't have many guns but want a safe where I can grow. I'm looking for a good quality safe and a good value in price.

Any suggestions?

I'm currently looking st this one....

My local tractor supply had a few marked down. One was $200 off but it was a lot more than that one. I have an old Sentry that I've had for years. Its not the greatest I'm sure but its way better than no safe at all.

Often said (but rarely listened to): Buy more safe capacity than you think you will ever need. This will save you money in the long run because (1) you won't have to sell your old safe at less than you paid for it in order to buy a bigger, more expensive safe later on, or (2) you won't have to buy a second safe when you--inevitably--out grow your first one.

And they NEVER hold as many guns as they claim. If you fill 'em with bone stock 10/22's maybe...but if you toss in anything with scopes, bolt knobs sticking out, levers, double barrels etc...it all takes up alot more space.
Dont even ask about trying to stuff a 1919 into the safe...that takes up the same space of about 8 guns :(

Id get a mechanical lock. A lot of complaints on the webs of electronic locks failing. Then having to deal with Winchesters CS which isn't the best

Really? That was my concern. I had heard browning stopped with the electronic locks because of that.

That sucks

Some guys have them and don't have any problems, but I wouldn't want to be the guy that it fails on. Check the warrantee on the lock. With Winchester, I think its only 2 years. After that, the lock smith is on you, and that's some bucks

Bought the mechanical safe when I saw how easy the electronic ones could be opened with a battery. First, everyone that advised you to "buy bigger than you think you need" is dead on right. They never hold what they say or you think. Most are listed as an X number of rifles but they must be testing them with all 22's without scopes. Second, my safe is not a $3,000.00 super max. It's a deterrent. It will keep people out of my guns unless they know what they are going for, where it is and have the tools to get it opened. Most thieves are after low hanging fruit. I have mine bolted down and not in the open. It can't be carried out.
With that said, know what level of protection you are wanting and willing to pay for.
I'm happy with mine and it's what I expected. Picked it up on sale.
Good luck
