10/22 has a Kidd Trigger Job kit and pulls at 2#
Somehow my 30/30 has a better (lighter) trigger than my long range 700...so I'll have to remedy that. Never checked the 30/30 but knew it was pretty light and I was right...right at 3# whereas the 700 pulls at 5. Ended up ordering a Timney trigger for the 700...its time to shoot that thing more.

Timney triggers are Awesome. Have them in three rifles. Have another ready to install.
Trigger pull gauges can be deceiving. If you move them up or down the trigger, the results will be different. You have to find a sweet spot where the middle of the finger should be and use that point on everything.

You will be happy with a Timney in your 700. Make sure you pay attention to what you are buying, curved vs straight, or safety or no safety.
Also make sure you remove the mounting pins to the correct side. the make sure you get them back in enough so bolt release will clear the pin. Ie, check the bolt release before you put it back in the stock.

Absolutely correct. I have an inexpensive Wheeler Trigger Pull Gauge I got from Bass Pro, I think, and you have to go SLOW or your results will be skewed as well. I like to check a trigger 3 times with it, then use the average of my results.

I use a piece of string, ziplock bag, and pinto beans for a trigger pull gauge. The string will find the lowest point on the trigger. Forgot the kitchen scale the weigh the beans.

I'm excited for it...it'll be my first complete replacement trigger. Everybody says you can get the Remington one tuned up but the Timneys arent that expensive so I'll give it a whirl.

From what I understand you can tune the older triggers (pre-Xmark) pretty nicely. I have one that is somewhere on the order of 2-2.5#, so I don't feel the need to upgrade. But the new ones run from finicky to impossible to work on.
