Too plain AR

This 5.56 was built by one of the guys here. He had a long list of all of the upgrades. Barrel is rated at 30,000 rounds, smooth as glass bolt carrier (it looks triangular). I paid $750 and then added the Magpul sights, Magpul grip, Magpul vertical grip, and extended the charging handle. For one, I don't like that the key mod is almost as long as the barrel. The entire rifle is kind of plain. I hate to give away a great rifle (accurate and reliable), but I want it to look sharp. Suggestions for upgrading? Color change? Thanks for your help!

Curious as to why you shortened the sight radius by putting the rear sight on the handguard instead of the upper receiver.
The buttstock is junk and the forward vertical grip is useless.
Other than that, put bullets in, shoot and repeat.

The AR was designed to be simple. Not have 20 pounds of crap bolted on to it. Leave it alone and shoot the heck out it man. Tacticool is useless. Functional is the key.

Does the stock have a rubber butt pad on it? I put a cushioned version on my AR chambered for .50 Beowulf, and it helps quite a bit.

But yeah, why is the rear sight so far forward? Did you have a big-butt scope mounted at one point?

I attempted to put the rear sight further back, but when it didn't slide on easily I moved it up. I will try it again. Now, why do you say the buttstock is junk? Also, instead of a vertical grip, what would you use? Thanks for your help!

I just pushed the rear sight back. Just slid it back. It was my first time putting on sights. LOL
