See also: energy costs, transportation costs (remember, Austria doesn't have ocean ports), taxes (notoriously high in Europe), and that "~2½ times their annual wage" was an American number; it's going to be considerably higher in Europe (again with the taxes)...."needs all of 14 employees to make 500,000 tons of steel wire a year. The same mill in the 1960s would have needed as many as 1,000 workers to produce a similar amount albeit of lesser quality."
Using this example, there's no way paying 1000 employees even at cheap Chinese wage levels will be cheaper. You have to remember that a lot of the Chinese companies house and feed their workers too. That math is never going to add up, oh wait....They use that common core math now.
This should be carved in stone somewhere. The consensus is that tariffs are bad.....but if they are bad for us, why are they good for other countries?
Yes, let them go!Are you saying they're the Chrysler of the motorcycle world?
