The future of technology, I'll be honest, it scares me.

I have been in Tech for over 20 years. We are building Skynet and no one seems to give a SH#T. The only thing that makes me think we will have a chance against the machines is knowing how frequently the break down.

Things sure have changed. I remember as a kid we though it was pretty hi-tech when we got a toaster that did both sides of the bread at once, and we had a cord on the telephone that was like 15 feet long so you could even go in another room to talk. Then, we got color TV! Color! We had one of those big ones hat was like as long as the sofa and had about a 12" screen. Man that thing was heavy!

I’ve been involved in the evolution of technology since the solid state days in the early 70’s to 4 years ago in the control systems programming and instrumentation field. I’ve always said the greatest development ever in electronics was the microprocessor. It influences almost every facet of our life from our toasters to our vehicles.
Now we have Artificial Intelligence which is quantum leaps above Microprocessors.
I personally think it’s an incredible progression.
Currently part of a beta testing group that is helping develop better home security by only recognizing human movements vs insects in flight, etc that can cause false motion alerts.
Interesting to see how this turns out.

There have always been the folks worrying about the changes in technology. I'm sure the same comments were made when the first wheel hit the ground. We haven't been eliminated from the earth yet, and I suspect we will all make it till that day we die.

This is too pretty a day to complain about anything. Get out there and shoot something!

I read an article recently that said any technology that was invented before you turned 35 is considered normal everyday life, anything invented after you turn 35 is unnecessary, not worth learning, and will potentially be the end of society (paraphrasing).

A lot of things the post-35 people say today about smart phones are very similar to what people said about television 50 years ago. No one will talk to each other anymore, and we'll lose the ability to directly communicate, etc.

Have you tried to interact in a meaningful way with most people under 25 lately? I have, and it's difficult, by and large. There are exceptions, but they are not frequent...
