Is one (or more) of the dishes served pancit? I love that and even make it from time to time.

I don't remember, so I asked my wife. She doesn't remember the name, but it very well could have been one of the dishes. Lumpia is one that we are familiar with, since our cousin's wife fixed that pretty regularly. After we retired and moved to Colorado, we made 3 or 4 trips to Idaho, and then we went there again in our move to Oregon. We also went up last year for about a month to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in May. I also got roped into taking the wedding photos as the people that were supposed to do that never got back to the cousins to set up to do them.

Those get together's are always a hoot. And, I need to explain the "wedding photos" comment. When they first married, it was a civil ceremony. Later on, they had a church wedding. Then, for their 50th, they decided to conduct a traditional Filipino wedding, and that's the one I photographed.

Going back to the subject, Kim's sister is well traveled, even more so than her brother. She has experienced freedom, shopping in nice places and may have. better outlook on things than her brother did. But, on the other hand he may still be alive. Those countries are secretive and have disappointed us before when we thought a certain leader was dead he suddenly appears. I think Castro was one that feigned or was ill and then came back into public view.

It doesn’t bother me that people imagine Filipinas to be Asians or that anyone imagines that there is any such language as Filipino, what bothers me is that Elton John can allow a proctologist to core him like an apple an continue to sing Rocket Man with a straight face.

There are several indigenous languages that survive in the Philippines. They’re scattered all across many islands, and none of them are called Filipino. If you dismissively think Filipinas are speaking Filipino, they’re probably speaking Spanish. It’s all Greek to me. The faithful will learn to speak in unknown tongues.
