I hunted last night and saw 8 does. They came in one, one, four, and then a doe and fawn spread out over three hours. This morning I have two friends hunting near Stillwater and between the two only one buck.

However, he was about 130" and was just meandering around eating a little corn and a little off of the field. Maybe the big guys are starting to be more active? On this place it is normal to see multiples of deer on most sits during muzzleloader. The calm before the good action. I bet next week ramps up pretty good.

Shot this dude yesterday evening right before the rain started. He's not the biggest I've seen, but he was in the right spot at the right time I guess.

Xbow or ML? Nice deer. My son and I are just going for meat does. Can’t seem to close the deal, dangit!

This is the toughest muzzleloader season I can remember. Deer movement has gotten progressively worse as the week has gone on, and even camera activity has fallen off the last couple days. With water being an issue, I’m hunting in a ground blind this evening overlooking the only water holes I know of within a mile or two in any direction. I don’t really have high hopes of killing anything but am more interested in seeing what all is coming to get a drink.

Found a HUGE rub next to some oak trees 200 yards from my rifle stand. Those trees have produced well, and I've watched several good bucks over there near last light this season already. Two trees are rubbed, but one is just about missing all of the bark from 12" up to near 4' up. The tree trunk is probably 5" in diameter. I think I know the culprit.

Have had several new 3 year olds show up. One tended a doe for probably 6 hours off an on in front of my camera two nights ago.

Have a two year old with a broken off right side already. Watched him through the scope with my two little girls this afternoon.

No new big buck movement, but steady appearances in front of my cameras...although about 80/20 night/day right now.

All of the impressive shooters haven't been on camera in the last 72 hours.

The daytime guys I have right now:

I hear you about the water. We have a bird bath in the back yard I keep a hose in to fill. We have been adding one to two gallons a day as deer, squirrels, and tons of birds are using it for water.

I was thinking the same thing this afternoon. I’ve got water, but this season is off. Maybe because it is slightly earlier than normal. Usually muzzleloader goes into the first few days of November and this year it ends before Halloween.

Next chance I will get to hunt will be around November 12th. Hoping the bucks will be cruising by then.

Unless things really pick up on the cameras or a really big buck shows up, I probably won’t be back until the first weekend of rifle season.
