I remember back in the 80's when they were 495 and people were complaining that was too much.

The cost of them in the 1980's wasn't what caused me to shy away from them, it was the cross bolt safety that came in 1983 - 84 . Yes I know you can remove them and yes Winchester did the same , but it just ruined the gun for me , they didn't and do not need a cross bolt safety . The operator needs to not be stupid

Love the look of the stainless and laminated. Great find!
We had a member on here that found a Ruger semi auto carbine in .44 mag at a gunshop in Moore.
He kept saying someone needs to buy it so he didn't have to and get in trouble at home from the "boss".
I had an appointment in OKC the next day and obliged him. Killed a couple of deer with it since.

Not in Oklahoma!
Back in 8/2004 walmarts special order catalog had the stainless 45/70 guide guns with walnut stocks priced at $409.32

Ran that through the .gov inflation calculator to get $643.06 in todays dollars.

CPI Inflation Calculator

Hard for me to grasp anyone today saying $1200 is good price! (Other than Marlin or your local gun dealer.)
