I went past this place , I-44 & 15th St, and again was wondering why it seems to have been abandoned. Looks like maybe a little construction going on, but it has been abandoned looking for a couple of years.

Anyone know the story?

Dell still has job listings (well, job listing) for their OKC office. Its main function is tech support (primarily enterprise systems support, IIRC), so my guess is that they went to remote work for the Rona Times and have just stuck with it. With modern communications technologies, there's not really as much need for tech support workers to be in a central office when most of what you're doing is over the phone, anyway.

A lot of the employees were working remotely prior to COVID. Most anything outside of business hours and weekends were, and employees pay was supplemented to cover their internet and increased electrical costs. It went full tilt at the time of the RONA. Dell is currently remodeling and fixing some foundation issues now as all the buildings have sunk considerably since being built. Some employees are still on site as contractual requirements and security reasons require it, GSA contracts and such.

Here, but occasionally There.
We have a relative that works for Dell. He works from home because of the dempanic. They did "finally" open the buildings for employees to return, but initially that had to "attest" each and every day that they didn't have the Rona in order to go back to the office. They "finally" did away with the "attesting," but they would now have to "reserve" a desk (like I'm sure there is a big demand for the desks) and can't leave their personal stuff at said desk.

So, our relative continues to work from home. He does miss the social interaction with fellow employees, but not enough to mess with all the nonsense expected for working back at the office.
