In all honesty - the caliber argument has been done to death, and most will argue that there is no magic caliber.

Lies!!!

The 10mm has the most "knockdown power".... :D

This is an actual pic involving a shooting with a 10mm round....

For plenty of people, its .380. Here's my problem with .380 for the most part - I've yet to see a .380 frame (save one, maybe two manufacturers) that is designed to take high-pressure loads - which is why you can't find any ammo made for the .380 that is specifically "+P". That leaves you with the standard cartridge and for the most part, there are very few rounds that have proven (at least to me) that they are reliable enough at putting a large hole in an assailant that I would depend on that particular gun/ammo combo.

Both Buffalo Bore and Corbon make +P Ammo for the .380 ACP

That's why I said you can't find it anywhere - not that they don't make it. I've yet to see it in any stores and I think that's because of the fact that most modern .380 handguns aren't designed with a frame/slide to handle it.

I'd be very leary of using any +P ammo in most of the .380 handguns of modern make except for maybe the Seecamp and possibly the Glock .380 (that we can't even get in the US).

Granted 380 is difficult but not impossible to find. Academy on the South side has it, or did a few days ago. I bought 4 boxes of it from Natchess a couple of weeks ago.

Just to stay on topic: The sig p232 is rated for +P ammo per a phone call to Sig. I've fired the Buffalo Bore offering (95gr @ 1175 )FPS out of my P232 with no issues at all. It's a hard push (way more than I expected) out of a light gun but it's handleable.

I don't think anyone can deny that the 38 Spl is a more powerful cartridge than the 380 but then a 90gr Hornady XTP bullet at 900 FPS will take care of necessary business too (though to be fair Sig does describe the P232 as a BUG in their literature).

According to both KelTec and Buffalo Bore, the BB "+P" .380 is OK for limited use in P3ATs. It'll no doubt accelerate wear, but it's not going to cause the gun to kaboom on you, either. BB's position is that it's safe to use in *any* properly operating .380, though I'm not going to be the one to test it out in some Davis zinc pocket rocket.

And Go Ordinance...they call it "+P" because calling it "Way Out Of Spec" didn't seem to help sales any... :)
