I saw this at H&H the other day and thought it was pretty sweet looking.
I've been wanting to get a good bolt action for target practice and I've been back and forth on a savage with an accutrigger and remington 700 in .223
Has anyone heard anything good or bad about this rifle? It has a triangular barrel that's supposed to be good for heat dissapation as well as weight reduction, and it has an integral muzzle brake.

From what I've heard, they're basically subject to the same crappy QC as the rest of Remington's line, so if you're looking to get one - expect it to be less than perfect in a lot of areas. I don't know if they're shipping them with the new X-Mark Pro Adjustable trigger (if it has the older non-adjustable X-Mark or X-Mark Pro, plan on replacing it if you want anything near the level of the accu-trigger).

Even if they were shipping it with the new trigger, I'd hope for a lot better gun than the modern-day 700's I've seen lately (especially for the cost).

I've come to expect the 700 to be a good platform to upgrade from, but not much else in today's times - older guns were much better built from what I've seen, but even with all the bells and whistles, the current guns just don't deliver to my expectations.

If it is made with the same coating as the Remington 870 Express Tactical shotgun I got then I would go with the Savage. My Remington 870 was rusting with 4 months of owning it.

Remington has gone down hill in recent years with their QC stuff it seems to me.

I personally would prefer something like the SPS Varmint, or Tactical. Cheaper initially, but same action if you want to upgrade later.

If you don't intend to upgrade, I'd say look at the Savage in the classifieds, but I keep hoping I can find a couple hundred $$$ laying around and grab it. All you need to do with that is put a scope on it and shoot.

Yup, what he said. I've got both a Savage 10FP with the AccuTrigger and a Remington 700 PSS, both in .308. Like the Savage trigger better. Thats a pretty good deal on the one in the classifieds.
