Plus I only install them where my hands actually touch the rail. Save a few ounces, and it's still comfortable where I need it to be.

I understand that... I've got the Evo on my varmint AR, and I love it. But I am looking for something to help me add more color to match the OD, FDE and pink without resorting to cerakote or dipping. But, I may end up going that route, anyways. We shall see.
Put them where your hands go. Then you'll only need one 3-pack. It's amazing.
I've considered doing this myself. I've ran the samson rail in the past and it's a great rail. It would save me 4oz over the DD lite rail, but once I added picatinny pieces to mount my other stuff on, I would be close to the DD's weight. Plus I like the thicker rail to grab on to with my offhand. (I can't figure out a way to say that last part, without a slew of gay jokes to follow)
Ended up ordering a pair of 11" Alphas from FBT (one black with flip-up sight and one FDE without), and have a Nordic 12" tube for the third rifle. Gonna be SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!
